With lasers and CNC there are two ways of working and the calculator handles both: cutting several parts from a sheet, or personalising items you buy ready-made, such as coasters, keychains or chopping boards.
Enter the price and size of the sheet and of your part. Suma3D works out how many parts fit, leaving a 3 mm gap, and spreads the sheet's price across them. For example, 15 parts of 10 × 10 cm fit on a 60 × 40 cm sheet: if the sheet costs $5.50, the material for each part comes to about $0.37.
Pick the blank (cork, wood, bamboo or slate coasters, keychains, tags, tumblers…) and its price. On top of that come machine minutes, power, laser wear and your setup time.
The calculator includes diode lasers (xTool, Creality Falcon, Atomstack, Sculpfun, Ortur), galvo and fibre lasers, CO₂ lasers such as the Bambu Lab R1 or xTool P2S, and CNC routers such as Genmitsu, Shapeoko or Onefinity, with typical price and power use.
